SUBJECT: ESCALATION OF CRIME IN THE COUNTRY - 2005

The Vision 2016 Council wishes to register its concern about the recent wave
of incidents of crime. Police and media reports and eye witnesses on such incidents
have become a daily phenomenon. Armed robberies, burglaries, house breaking and
theft, car hi-jacking, violent attacks, and murder, including so called passion
killings (particularly amongst the youth), have a turned our country into a haven
of criminal activities in the mode of the Biblical Sodom and Gomorrah. Businesses,
families and individuals are being robbed of their hard earned assets and lives
willy-nilly.
SUBJECT: GENERAL ELECTIONS - 2004

The
Vision 2016 Council calls upon all Batswana who have registered
to vote in the forthcoming general elections on Saturday,
to exercise their constitutional right and go to the polling
stations around the country to vote in large numbers, for
representatives of their choice at both Council and Parliamentary
levels.
WORD OF APPRECIATION TO ORGANISATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS
WHO CONTRIBUTED TO VISION 2016 TORCH MISSION

As
part of the Vision 2016 Awareness month commemorations in
September, the Vision 2016 Council floated a Vision 2016 Torch
around the country in an effort to highlight and symbolise
the importance of Vision 2016 as a light of hope for the nation,
and the need for all stakeholders to play an active role towards
its realisation.
STAKEHOLDERS PARTICIPATION IN THE VISION 2016 AWARENESS
MONTH SEPTEMBER 2004; A GREAT SUCCESS

Compared
to last year's commemorations, the participation of stakeholders
this time around was much higher and the Council considers
this to be an indication that individuals and organisations
are now getting fully engaged in the process of internalizing
and implementing Vision 2016.
VISION 2016 AWARDS DINNER DANCE
DATE: 22nd September 2004
The
Vision 2016 Council will host the Vision 2016 Awards Dinner
Dance on Friday 24th September 2004 at the Gaborone International
Conference Centre, at the Grand Palm.

VISION 2016 COUNCIL STRATEGIC PLAN LAUNCH
DATE: 7th July 2004
The
Vision 2016 Council will launch its Strategic Plan for 2004
- 2006 at the Boipuso Banquet Hall on the 8th July 2004 at
1830hrs. The Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public
Administration, honourable Daniel Kwelagobe will officially
launch the Strategic Plan.
NATIONAL VOTERS REGISTRATION

The
Vision 2016 Council calls upon all Batswana aged eighteen years and above to
register to vote in the 2004 general elections, in large numbers, when the registration
exercise starts on 1st - 30th November 2003.
